Centers & Programs
The UTLA Program allows students with career interests in entertainment to live, study, and intern in the entertainment capital of the world. Students spend a semester or summer learning about the entertainment industry through classes and internships. The program is housed in the UTLA Center in Burbank, which serves as the University’s West Coast hub for teaching and research on film, television, and media.
University of Texas Film Institute (UTFI)
Established in 2003, The University of Texas Film Institute (UTFI) is committed to a new model of film education. UTFI provides hands-on specialized skill training, fosters individual and collaborative creative growth, and serves as a testing ground for the application of emerging film technologies. Based in the College of Communication and operating in close association with the Department of Radio-Television-Film, UTFI enables students to become skilled professionals, artistic visionaries, and pioneers of an ever-changing medium.
Telecommunications & Information Policy Institute (TIPI)
TIPI provides a research-based program and a forum for digital information policy initiatives in the United States and around the world. TIPI is housed at the University of Texas at Austin. Established in 1996, the Institute is supported through grants, gifts and research contracts from a variety of foundations, public agencies and commercial enterprises.
The UT Documentary Center supports the production, distribution, and study of non-fiction work in broadcast, theatrical release, education, new media applications, and print publication. The Center provides professional opportunities for UT students, alumni and the community at large.
