Cinemakids
Cinemakids is an annual filmmaking program for young people ages 6 to 12 in the Austin, Texas area.
Cinemakids was founded in 2000 by Mary Celeste Kearney, a professor in UT’s Department of Radio-Television-Film, to honor young filmmakers and to inspire other youths to see film production as a fun hobby, a means of creative expression, a form of civic engagement, and a possible profession.
Our Program

"The Adventures of Floating Boy & Flying Girl, dirs. Viktoriya Kostyshena, Yomayra Perez, Nathalie Diaz, Kaila Duprey, Brianda Agramonte, Darcy Peguero, Jimmy Peguero, Peter Rodriguez"
Cinemakids is a free two-day program meant to introduce students to film production. Students watch films made by other youth, learn basic techniques in filmmaking from adult media arts educators, and work collaboratively in small groups on short movies. Lunch and filmmaking equipment are provided.
The 2011 Cinemakids program will take place at the University of Texas at Austin on Saturday, September 17 and Sunday, September 18.
