ARRI BL

To Test:

Check all parts for evidence of physical or cosmetic damage.

Make sure the door on the camera body opens and closes properly.

Make sure the magazine doors open and close (and lock) properly, that the take up arms move properly and that all four core adapters are in place.

Make sure the magazines mount snugly on the camera.

Run the camera. Do not run it at high speed without film. If you have test film, load and run it. Listen to and watch the movement to assure that the camera is running at a constant speed and is taking up properly. Make sure the sync speed indicator light turns off a few seconds after depressing the on/off plunger.

Open the pressure plate and examine the gate for dirt or foreign matter.

Examine the interior of the camera and magazines for dirt. DO NOT USE ANY FORM OF COMPRESSED OR CANNED AIR TO CLEAN CAMERA INTERIOR. Staff can clean camera body. Compressed air may be used on magazines.

Verify function of footage counter and tachometer. Make sure you can set the diopter for your eye. Test zoom, focus and aperture functions of the lens.

Inspect lens and filters for cleanliness and scratches. Any defects should be brought to the attention of the staff.

Ask the staff to clean any dirty optics before you leave. Test the lens mount to make sure lens is stable and the mount and lock are working properly. If you are unsure about removing the blimped lens on the Arri-BL, please ask tech staff personnel for assistance. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU ATTEMPT TO CLEAN THE SHUTTER MIRROR.

Do not use daylight spools inside Arri BL magazines because they have the potential to ruin your film and damage the magazine.
