To Test:

Run the camera. If it has variable speed capability, do not run it at high speed without film. If you have test film, load and run it. Listen to and watch the movement to assure that the camera is running at a constant speed and is taking up properly.

Check the sync speed light near the viewfinder to make sure the camera attains sync speed within the normal 2-3 seconds (the light turns off to signify speed.)

Raise and remove the pressure plate and examine it and the gate for foreign matter.

Examine the interior of camera and magazines. If necessary, blow out the interior of the camera with a blower bulb. DO NOT USE ANY FORM OF COMPRESSED OR CANNED AIR TO CLEAN THE CAMERA INTERIOR. Staff can clean camera body. Compressed air may be used on magazines.

Verify function of footage counter and battery test button. Make sure the rubber take up belt is not stretched or twisted or otherwise damaged. Make sure you can set the diopter for your eye, and that the viewfinder is properly seated on the camera.

Test zoom, focus and aperture functions of the lens.

Inspect lens and filters for cleanliness and scratches. Attach and remove the lens at least once to check for snug and proper lens seating. With the lens off, rotate the inching knob and observe the movement of the mirror shutter.

Any defects should be brought to the attention of the staff. Ask the staff to clean any dirty optics before you leave. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU ATTEMPT TO CLEAN THE SHUTTER MIRROR.
