BLIMP/ZEPPELIN SHOCK MOUNT ASSEMBLY
The blimp, also called zeppelin, is particular about how its shock mount is inserted into it. There is only one correct way to do this. Assembling it incorrectly results in damage and poor sound. Here's a step-by-step guide to happy blimp/shock mount assembly.
Unscrew the back cap.

Slightly unscrew the two knobs that hold the pistol grip to the blimp. If you unscrew these too much the entire pistol grip will come off. You don't want to do that because it's a time-consuming task to put it back together. Who has time to waste?

Now that you have slightly unscrewed the knobs, slide the pistol grip with the attached shock mount out of the blimp. You do not need to slide it all the way out, in fact it is less work if you don't.

Mount your microphone into the shock mount. Simply snap the mic into the two sections of the shock mount.

Slide the shock mount slowly back into the blimp. If you have taken the entire shock mount out of the blimp, or if the previous user had the shock mount inserted backwards, this is the tricky part. Check to be sure the flat rubberized piece is inserted with the rounded part facing the front of the blimp and the end with the notch is at the open end of the blimp. When sliding the entire shock mount assembly into the blip, do it slowly and gently.

Cracks from abuse.
Make sure the grooves in the sides of the flat rubberized piece are not being squished. If they are, simply unscrew the pistol grip a bit more. One turn of each knob should be enough. When sliding the shock mount assembly back into the blimp, do not push down on a hard surface, such as a table. This will damage the end of the blimp.

Crush damage
Tighten the knobs that hold the pistol grip to the rubberized piece which holds the shock mount in place.
A properly assembled zeppelin/shock mount assembly will have the notch in the rubberized piece facing the back part of the blimp. This makes sense if you think about how this notch is used. The XLR cable that attaches to the mic goes into this notch.

Screw the back cap on and you are done!

Have fun!
