GRANT PROPOSALS

The College and Department REQUIRE that ALL faculty submitting ANY grant proposal obtain the Department Chair and Dean's signatures on the “Dean’s Checklist for Proposals” form 10 DAYS PRIOR TO applying for the grant. This simple, one-page form is available from an RTF staff member or, you may print it from the College Grants Office Web site (it is the first form listed).

The purpose of this new procedure is to ensure that you get the proper staff support for your grant. Grants over $25,000 are now required to include indirect costs or administrative assistance written directly into the budget, and are therefore eligible for assistance from the College's Grants Office. Grants under $25,000 that include administrative assistance in the budget may use staff support in either the College Grants Office or RTF Dept Office. In either case, both the College and Dept offices need to know about your grant proposals in advance so that we can plan accordingly.

The College Grants Office, reviews grant proposals and submits them to the Dean for signature. This review process, along with the required Checklist, will identify items in the proposal or budget that could delay approval from Office of Sponsored Projects. Grants Office Staff will also provide assistance with budget calculations and ensure that the budget and proposal meet all UT and College of Communication requirements.

Please contact the Grants Office with any questions.
