UNIVERSITY TRAVEL GRANTS FROM THE OFFICE OF GRADUATE STUDIES

RTF faculty who are eligible for this funding must use it in order to receive travel funding from the Department. The grants cover up to $1,200 towards airline travel.

Eligibility Rules:

1. Applicants must be tenured or tenure-track faculty or senior lecturers.

2. A faculty member may be funded for up to two trips during the fiscal year, which begins September 1 and ends August 31.

3. The faculty member's research paper or other presentation of creative work must be presented at an organized conference or professional meeting of a learned society.

4. These funds may be used to cover both registration fees to the conference or meeting and transportation costs to and from the designated meeting city. This does not include travel costs within the city (e.g., cabs, subways, etc.)

5. The following activities do not qualify for this funding: Giving a colloquium or talk at another university; attending a conference without presenting invited work; chairing a session or serving as a member of a discussion panel at a conference or festival.

6. Normally these funds are not available to fund travel to screen a film at a film festival. However, exceptions are sometimes made. Contact Maggie Keeshen at 232-3608 to discuss your specific request.

Application Procedures:

Faculty are responsible for completing the Faculty Travel Grant application and following all the application procedures outlined at www.utexas.edu/ogs/ftg/apply.html . The application is available at this site. (Eric will will provide you with the required document number after you submit the Department Faculty Travel Request to him.)

Note that these applications MUST be received in the Office of Graduate Studies at least TWO WEEKS in advance of departure date.

Faculty must also complete the Department Faculty Travel Request form for all trips to be funded by University Travel Grants.
