FILM RENTALS (OUTSIDE SOURCES)

First, check with Lee Sparks in the RTF Media Library (CMA 5.130) for the film you need. You may contact Lee at (512) 471-1906; roybatty@mail.utexas.edu

If the film you need is not available at the RTF Media Library, check with Vulcan Video. Vulcan Video has two locations: 609 West 29th Street (478-5325) or 112 West Elizabeth St. (326-2629).

Advise Gloria Holder, before you go, if you need to be added to this account. RTF has a direct-billed account with the north location of Vulcan for use by faculty that teach classes supported by a Cinema Texas screening fee. This provides a good rate and a sales tax exemption.

Production area faculty members can also rent from Vulcan Video but the procedure is different. You will need to inform the Vulcan staff member, at the time of your rental, that the rental is for an RTF class and that you are eligible for the discount rate as well as the sales tax exemption. We ask that you pay out-of-pocket for these rentals but retain the receipt for department reimbursement. Add the class number and date of your film’s screening to the receipt and submit it to Gloria Holder for reimbursement. You will be reimbursed periodically for some, or all, of your rentals, depending on the availability of funds.

RTF does NOT take responsibility for late fees, replacement fees, or personal rentals. RTF can NOT reimburse sales tax or charges in excess of our discounted rate.

Limited rentals from Hollywood Video and I Luv Video are allowed. Your area head will determine if the rental is reimbursable.

Tell the clerk that the rental is for Official University business and is tax exempt. Sales tax can NOT be reimbursed. Should you need to provide written proof, you may link to and print out an official Tax Exempt Certificate. You must sign the certificate indicating that, under penalty of law, the purchase is for official University business.
