Wiley Akins

Wiley Akins, with an eclectic background in art including traditional painting, sculpture, netsuke, comic strips, and cell animation, has worked as an animation in-between artist, constructed illusionist props for a magician, created larger-than-life whimsical characters for amusement venues, worked as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer, and taught traditional illustration.

His career in digital media began with making 3D animations for court cases conducted by the Texas Attorney General’s Office. He has spent 12+ years as a 3D artist and animator in the Austin gaming industry creating game assets and animations for PC, Nintendo DS, Gamecube, Playstation 2, Playstation Portable and Xbox. Most recently, he created 3D digital content for holograms and managed feature and user interface improvements for the proprietary software used to create the holograms. In addition, he created animations for a fully 3D dynamic display developed with a grant from DARPA.
