Admissions: MA in Media Studies

The application deadline for Fall 2009 is December 12, 2008. Applications will be available after September 1.

Please do not include your social security number on any correspondence. The EID issued by the University when you submit your application will serve as your identification number.

Note that you must have completed a BA or BS degree (or will have completed one by the beginning of your first semester) in order to be admitted to the MA program in RTF.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Students applying for the M.A. in Media Studies must complete both the Graduate and International Admissions Center (GIAC) Admission Application (I) and the Radio-Television-Film (RTF) Admission Application (II). Please follow the instructions for each application below.

I. GRADUATE AND INTERNATIONAL ADMISSIONS
CENTER (GIAC) APPLICATION MATERIALS

Regardless of which RTF graduate program you are applying to, you must send the following materials to the Graduate and International Admissions Center (GIAC):

1. Online Application & Application Fee
2. Three (3) Letters of Academic Reference (part of on-line GIAC application).
Although you may be given a choice to send a paper copy, the RTF department STRONGLY requests that you use the on-line option. Please contact us by email if your recommender is not able to use this method.
3. Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
4. Official GRE Scores received from the Educational Testing Service (ETS)
5. TOEFL score (International Students only)

II. DEPARTMENT OF RADIO-TELEVISION-FILM MATERIALS

All materials listed below must be submitted to the Department of Radio-Television-Film by December 12, 2008. We prefer that you send the items 2-4 electronically when you receive confirmation that your RTF on-line graduate admission application has been submitted. Please name the file with your last name and other identifying note, for example: jones_sop; jones_resume; jones_writing_sample.

2. Statement of Purpose (e-mailed to RTF Graduate Coordinator)
3. Résumé (e-mailed to RTF Graduate Coordinator)
4. Academic Writing Sample (e-mailed to RTF Graduate Coordinator)
5. Copies of transcripts from all colleges and universities attended*
6. GRE Scores (copy of score sheet or self- report scores on the RTF application)
7. TOEFL Scores (for international students only: copy of score sheet or self-report scores on the RTF application)

*Transcripts: The Graduate and International Admissions Center (GIAC) requires an original transcript from each college and/or university that you have attended.
