Graduate Program
The deadline for Fall 2010 admission applications is December 11, 2009. Because it will take the Graduate and International Admission Center time to receive and image the material you send to them, please send these materials well before the deadline. We will begin the review process very shortly after the deadline and if we do not have all your materials, your application will not be reviewed.
The application for Fall 2010 for all RTF graduate programs will be available after September 1, 2009. Please continue to check this page throughout the summer to see any new updates.
Please do not include your social security number on any correspondence. The EID issued by the University when you submit your application will serve as your identification number.
Note that you must have completed a BA or BS degree (or will have completed one by the beginning of your first semester) in order to be admitted to the MA program in RTF.
Students applying for the M.A. in Media Studies must complete both the Graduate and International Admissions Center (GIAC) Admission Application (I) and the Radio-Television-Film (RTF) Admission Application (II). Please follow the instructions for each application below. You will need the EID provided by GIAC when you submit the ApplyTexas application before you can complete the RTF on-line application.
Regardless of which RTF graduate program you are applying to, you must send the following materials to the Graduate and International Admissions Center (GIAC):
1. Online Application & Application Fee (if you are currently or have been a graduate student at The University of Texas at Austin, please contact the Graduate Program Coordinator – swcrouch@mail.utexas.edu - for instructions).
2. Statement of purpose – part of the online application.
3. Three (3) Letters of Academic Reference (you will be asked to provide names and emails for your recommenders as part of online GIAC application). Although you may be given a choice to send a paper copy, the RTF department requires that you use the online option. Please contact us by email if your recommender is not able to use this method.
4. Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended - The Graduate and International Admissions Center (GIAC) requires an original transcript from each college and/or university that you have attended. U.S. applicants who have taken coursework through an Exchange Program, Semester Abroad or Study Abroad, please contact an Admissions Counselor at GIAC (512-475-7391) to determine if you need an original transcript from the foreign institution.
5. Official GRE Scores received from the Educational Testing Service (ETS)
6. TOEFL score (International Students only)
All materials listed below must be submitted to the Department of Radio-Television-Film by December 11, 2009. All items should be sent electronically when you receive confirmation that your RTF on-line graduate admission application has been submitted.
