Alumnus Goes to Sundance

14 December 2010

David Zellner, an RTF alumnus (graduate with his Bachelors of Science in 1996) recently got his short, Sasquatch Birth Journal 2, accepted into the prestigious Sundance Film Festival 2011. David and his brother, Nathan Zellner, work as a filmmaking duo sharing the writer/director credits, similar to the Joel and Ethan Coen of the Coen Brothers. After the success of their last feature, Goliath, which played at SXSW 2008 among other festivals, that starred the brothers themselves and actor/filmmaker Andrew Bujalski, local filmmaker John E. Bryant (whose short Loveolution is premiered at SXSW, and who's also a producer on Baghead), animation expert/filmmaker Bob Sabiston in what may be his first feature-film acting gig, and Austin Film Society programmer Chale Nafus. The Zellner Brothers are no strangers to Indie festival success.
