RTF alum Robert Rodriguez honored as 2015 UT Distinguished Alumnus

Perhaps RTF’s most famous alum, Austin-based filmmaker and founder of El Rey Network, Robert Rodriguez (BS '08) received a 2015 UT "Distinguished Alumnus Award" on Friday, November 6. Presented each fall, the Distinguished Alumnus Award is the Texas Exes’ highest honor for outstanding University of Texas graduates. Among the awardees this year were a cancer researcher, a civic leader, an energy attorney, an astronaut, and a business leader.

In this short video produced by the Longhorn Network, Professor Charles Ramírez Berg shares stories about his former student.

In his acceptance speech, Rodriguez spoke about the significant impact of his studies in the UT Radio-Television-Film department on his future career, and thanked his film teachers, professors Charles Ramírez Berg, Tom Schatz, Steve Mims, and the late Nick Caminos. Watch the speech here:
