The Paul Pierre Standifer Foundation has announced it will present the first annual Diamond in the Roughcut Award at the 2008 Hollywood Showcase. "Diamond in the rough" is a metaphor for the unpolished state of a diamond, especially those that have the potential of becoming high quality gemstones. The "Diamond in the Roughcut Award" is intended to help undergraduates become high quality filmmakers.
In conjunction with the RTF department, the Standifer Foundation also awards the Paul Pierre Standifer Endowed Scholarship in Film Production. Awarded on an annual basis, the scholarship has helped many RTF students excel in their filmmaking endeavors. Additionally, the Foundation recently announced that it is offering an internship opportunity in Los Angeles for RTF students.
