Prerequisites
Must be an RTF major with a UT GPA of at least 2.25 and upper-division standing. The following coursework with a grade of at least C in each course: RTF 305, 9 additional semester hours of lower-division coursework in RTF. RTF 330L.
Consent requirements
This course does not require consent. Registration is open via the online registration system to all students.
Course description
The purpose of this course is to provide professional internship experiences with television and radio stations, film, video, and new media production companies, governmental agencies and production units, audio recording studios, and new media industries. Students are responsible for securing their own internship position. Resources and position listings are available in the College of Communication Career Services (CCS) office, CMA 3.104 / (512) 471-9421.
Course Required Deliverable: Final Internship Report
Your Internship Report must consist of the following four items:
Cover Page: Name; Social Security Number; Dates of Internship; Company Name; Name of Supervisor; Company History, Structure/Organization and Mission/Purpose.
Journal: Keep a daily journal of your work experience and assignments.
Work Samples: It is preferable that you submit a portfolio including samples of work performed during your internship at the end of the semester/session. If your internship will not result in a portfolio, you must obtain the permission of the Internship Coordinator at the beginning of the semester/session in order to submit a 3-5 page internship summary in lieu of the portfolio.
Your Internship Evaluation: Your evaluation of the internship experience using the appropriate form.
Your Supervisor's Confidential Final Evaluation of Your Performance, signed, on official company letterhead, and in a sealed envelope.
