Must be an RTF major with a UT GPA of at least a 2.25 and have upper-division standing. Prerequisite: RTF 338. Enroll in this section if your experience is in 16mm film.

Course description

This course emphasizes the technical and conceptual skills involved in 16 mm double system sync-sound filming. Includes one individual and one group project.

Alex is a UT alumnus who received his MFA in Writing in 1996.  He is both a screenwriter and director who, with his brother, has written screenplays for Disney Pictures, Columbia Studios and HBO Pictures/Warner Brothers.  He is currently working on an adaptation of stories by Chris Offutt.  As a filmmaker, Alex's co-written and co-directed The Slaughter Rule premiered at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival, was nominated for an Independent Sprit Award for Best First Feature, and was released in theaters nationally.  Alex has taught screenwriting in Los Angeles and worked on numerous film sets.
