Prerequisites

For RTF majors, the following coursework, with a grade of at least C in each course: RTF 305, 319 or demonstrated equivalent experience, and 6 additional semester hours of coursework chosen from RTF 309, 314, 316, 317, or 318. Non-RTF majors are welcome in this class.

All incoming students should have some familiarity with website design and production, an understanding of basic video techniques (shooting, importing, editing, exporting), a working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, some prior art | design | photography experience.

Consent requirements

This course does not require consent. Registration is open via the online registration system to all RTF majors, and some seats are reserved for non-RTF majors.

First class day policy

Students must attend the first class day or be dropped from the class.

Course description

Video installation is a studio about the relationship between the cinematic image and the sites that support it. We will explore the architecture of and within the moving image and design/designate the spaces for its reception. Students should anticipate costs [totaling approximately $200-300] for art and/or tech supplies and a course reader.
