Prerequisites
Must be an RTF major with a UT GPA of at least a 2.25 and have upper-division standing. The following prerequisites: RTF 305 and 3 additional semester hours of lower-division coursework in RTF with a grade of at least C in each course; and RTF 317 and 318 with a grade of at least B in each.

This course does not require consent. Registration is open via the online registration system to all RTF majors.

Course description
Introduction to editing is intended to build confidence in and understanding of editing. We will discuss aesthetic and practical approaches, and consider how they might be applied to a variety of challenges in editing narrative and documentary pieces. This class includes lab work with a series of exercises. Students will learn to:
Analyze and critique examples of narrative and documentary editing.
Approach material and construct it into meaningful sequences.
Perform a variety of basic edits.
