Course description
This course is designed to investigate the social and institutional aspects of the star-fan relationship as it occurs and has developed in Hollywood films and American television (although we also will touch on the institutions of popular music and major league sports). As such, it will combine historical case studies and a variety of theoretical approaches to study stars and our interactions with them throughout the 20th and early 21st century.
