PREREQUISITES

For RTF majors, the following coursework, with a grade of at least C in each course: RTF 305, 318, or 319, and 6 additional semester hours of coursework chosen from RTF 309, 314, 316, 317, and 318 or 319 (whichever has not already been taken). Non-RTF majors should have demonstrated equivalent experience and skills.

All incoming students should have some familiarity with basic principles of art and design, web site design, basic imaging (still & video) and audio techniques, and related software/hardware.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Registration is open via the online registration system to all upper-division UT students. Non-RTF majors are welcome in this class.

FIRST CLASS DAY POLICY

Students unable to register for this course are encouraged to come to the first day of class to determine whether space may be available. Registered students must attend the first day of class.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Video installation is a studio about the relationship between the cinematic image and the sites that support it. We will explore the architecture of and within the moving image and design/designate the spaces for its reception. Students should anticipate costs [totaling approximately $200-300] for art and/or tech supplies.
