PREREQUISITES

Must be an RTF major with a UT GPA of at least a 2.25 and have upper-division standing. The following coursework with a grade of at least C in each: RTF 305 and 9 additional lower-division hours in RTF.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The specific intent of this course is to introduce the student to the skills and the responsibilities of management. Management skills in the highly regulated communications industry are uniquely different from most other business. The course encompasses radio formatics, sales, the role of audience research, marketing strategies, financial management, management theories, broadcast station valuation and capital financing, revenue development, the Communications Act of 1996, and projected regulatory developments, which are all designed to meet the needs of the radio manager tin the world of the 21st century.
