GUIDELINES
Students must register for RTF 178 via on-line registration
AND
Register for services at the Communication Career Services (CCS) office in CMA 3.102.
Monica Choi of CCS is the RTF Internship Coordinator. Check with her for application paperwork and information.
Must be an RTF major with a UT GPA of at least 2.25 and upper-division standing. The following coursework with a grade of at least C in each course: RTF 305 and 9 additional semester hours of lower-division coursework in RTF.
No consent is required for this course. Enrollment is open via the online registration system. Can only be taken once for credit (students who want to do a second internship must enroll in RTF 178). Must be an RTF major.
The purpose of this course is to provide professional internship experiences with television and radio stations, film, video, and new media production companies, governmental agencies and production units, audio recording studios, and new media industries. Students are responsible for securing their own internship position. Resources and position listings are available in the College of Communication Career Services (CCS) office, CMA 3.104 / (512) 471-9421.
Course Required Deliverable: Final Internship Report
Your Internship Report must consist of the following four items:
1. Cover Page: Name; Social Security Number; Dates of Internship; Company Name; Name of Supervisor; Company History, Structure/Organization and Mission/Purpose.
2. Journal: Keep a daily journal of your work experience and assignments.
3. Work Samples: It is preferable that you submit a portfolio including samples of work performed during your internship at the end of the semester/session. If your internship will not result in a portfolio, you must obtain the permission of the Internship Coordinator at the beginning of the semester/session in order to submit a 3-5 page internship summary in lieu of the portfolio.
4. Your Internship Evaluation: Your evaluation of the internship experience using the appropriate form.
5. Your Supervisor's Confidential Final Evaluation of Your Performance, signed, on official company letterhead, and in a sealed envelope.
