COURSE SYLLABUS:

DESCRIPTION: This course will concentrate on producing film and television, with a strong emphasis on documentary films as well. The class will include up to six separate case studies throughout the semester. Each case study will emphasize different aspects of the life cycle of a movie project: development, financing, pre-production, principal photography, post-production, marketing, and distribution. Each will be screened in class. In surveying the function and duties of a producer, many sessions will feature active, real-life producers (matched with case study). Through lab workshops and exercises, particular emphasis will be placed on production management skills and mid-semester will concentrate on MovieMagic scheduling and budgeting.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Please note: This is a "Substantial Writing Component" course with three 5-6 page papers.
