MA - Year 3
Sarah grew up in Sandpoint, Idaho. Seeking warmer weather, she received her B.A in Media Broadcasting with a double emphasis in production and performance from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, California. Not realizing she was being actively recruited by the US Army, after college Sarah went on to produce TV and radio commercials, among those, one for the US Army. Soon thereafter, Sarah was receiving letters from her twin sister asking if she carried a "real gun" in pictures sent home from the Middle East. She proudly served in the US Army as a Media Broadcaster and Public Affairs Officer until moving to Austin to attend UT. Seeing firsthand the influence and impact that media has upon gender, class, race, and culture, in particular, in the Middle East, Sarah plans on minoring in Middle Eastern Studies. She is currently researching the digital divide among local youth using online gaming as a platform for peer interaction.
