I grew up in Suzhou, a beautiful city in the east of China. I majored in biomedical engineering in Southeast University as it was a "safe choice", but I never give up my dream to be a filmmaker. In my senior year, I took some optional courses in films and they gave me courage to change my path. After graduating, I took a filmmaking class on my own and tried to shoot some short videos.
I'm an avid reader, and of course, a film fanatic. I love films that can see beauty and drama in ordinary life. My favorite film is Scent of a Woman, and I'm obsessed with the works of Wang Kar-wai, a Hong Kong director.
I've never been professionally trained as a filmmaker, so I'm thrilled with the new experience at UT Austin.
