Daniel Mauro is a Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Texas at Austin. He holds a B.A. from the University of Rochester and an M.A. from the University of Kansas. His research interests include media archaeology, museum studies, media history, nonfiction film, and time-based media art. He is currently completing a dissertation focused on the political and ethical dimensions of curating amateur-made film, video, and digital media. His research has been published in journals including New Cinemas, American Behavioral Scientist, and The Moving Image. Daniel served as the project coordinator and research associate for UT Austin’s “Ethics Integration Initiative,” a grant-funded project to develop and implement new tools for ethics education across disciplines. He also has previous experience at The Museum of Modern Art, George Eastman Museum, and Viacom Media Networks. Daniel is a film programmer for the Austin Asian American Film Festival, and his own video work has appeared in festivals and installations in the US and abroad.
