Jay was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan. When he was three years old, his babysitter let him watch Jaws on HBO. He's been obsessed with filmmaking (and terrified of the ocean) ever since. He spent his teen years in San Diego avoiding the beach at all costs. He studied Cinema-Television Production at USC where he devoted most of his time to making horror movies with his friends. He's worked in production offices, on film sets, and for a fancy movie theater in downtown LA.
Jay loves writing set pieces, the scarier, the better. His action/thriller script, Relentless, was recently a finalist in the Fresh-Voices Screenplay Competition and Screencraft's Screenwriting Fellowship. He is thrilled to join the program at UT where he hopes to expand his horizons outside the horror genre. Maybe he'll even write a romantic comedy (no guarantee there won't be a decapitation or two).
In his free time, he enjoys hugging his tiny dog, Charley, conjuring spirits with his Ouija Board, and watching reruns of The Real Housewives of New York City.
