Kelsie was born and raised in Austin, TX, where Texan tall tales and the oral histories of her Latinx and African-American ancestry first sparked her love for storytelling. She graduated from Barnard College with a B.A. in English and Film in 2015. After Barnard, she stayed in New York City and worked as a writer/producer for original long form co-branded content for MTV, VH1, and Logo for several years. Thrilled to focus her creative energies on screenwriting, she hopes to ensure people of diverse backgrounds and various stories have representation and a voice in television, film, and media. As such, much of her work centers around identity, sexuality, religion, and family, because growing up a mixed kid gives you plenty of identity crises to use as fodder.
