Luis Rivera-Figueroa was born and raised on the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico. He holds a B.A. in History of Europe and an M.A. in Communication Theory and Research from the University of Puerto Rico. His master's thesis discusses the androgynous gender performativity of the Latin Trap star Bad Bunny as a transgression to the limits of representation of masculinity in the Latin Urban Music star system. Luis has worked as an assistant to the Editor in academic journals such as the Journal of Latin American Communication Research, DeSignis and the journal of the School of Communications at the University of Puerto Rico, Intersecciones.
