Rusty Hatchell is a doctoral student in Media Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. He earned his B.A. in English from Georgia Gwinnett College and his M.A. in Media Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on industrial approaches to superhero television, franchise maintenance, and cross-promotional branding strategies. His other research interests include global media, location and production practices, media capital development, and science fiction television history. He currently serves as a Co-Managing Editor for Flow: A Critical Forum on Media and Culture and is on the editorial board of The Velvet Light Trap. He also serves as the Graduate Student Representative for the Urbanism, Geography, and Architecture Scholarly Interest Group (SIG) at SCMS. His work has been published in Flow, In Media Res, and Middle West Review.
