Sam is from Vista, California (about 30 miles north of San Diego). She graduated from the University of Redlands in 2016 with degrees in English and Visual & Media Studies with Honors. During her time at Redlands, she studied abroad in Scotland at the University of Edinburgh and was committed to living abroad after undergrad. After graduating, she lived and taught English in Menorca, Spain, for two years.
Sam is most interested in the queer nature of the relationships between humans and machines, and how it manifests in our life (both online and embodied), as well as its reflection in film and other media. Sam's areas of expertise (while always growing) include; identity & representation and Big Data and machine learning.
She enjoys meeting for coffee, group viewings of movies / tv shows, and being outside with her dog.
