Nicole Chi is a Costa Rican-born Chinese director and producer, currently based in Austin, Texas. She's an AFS Texas New Voices Grantee (2021) and a Talents Guadalajara Mentee (2022).
She is currently in post-production of "Guián" her first feature length documentary , about her Asian-Latino identity. This project has been selected in the Málaga Film Festival (2022) and Costa Rican Film Festival (2021) in their Work In Progress sections. This film is supported by Costa Rica's Cinema Fund El Fauno (2019).
Her short narrative "Comadre" was selected in the SXSW Denius Showcase (2022). Her short documentary "Gaming: Oh, it's a girl" was selected in Short Shorts&Asia (2021).
Nicole is interested in making films that interweave cultures and languages, and the implications of people’s movements from one place to another.
