MEDIA STUDIES FACULTY

Joe Straubhaar

JOE STRAUBHAAR is the Amon G. Carter Centennial Professor in Communications. A heavily published author, his primary teaching, research and writing interests are in global media, international communication and cultural theory, information societies and the digital divide in the U. S. and other countries, and global television production and flow.

Alison Macor

Lecturer ALISON MACOR is a freelance writer and former film critic for The Austin Chronicle and the Austin American-Statesman.She earned a Ph.D. from RTF, and has taught film courses at the University of Texas, Austin Community College, and the Austin Museum of Art.

Paul Stekler

Professor PAUL STEKLER is the Chair of the Department of Radio-Television-Film. He is also a nationally recognized filmmaker whose critically praised and award-winning work includes George Wallace: Settin' the Woods on Fire;" "Last Man Standing: Politics, Texas Style;" "Vote for Me: Politics in America," a four-hour PBS special about grassroots electoral politics.

Miguel Alvarez

Lecturer MIGUEL ALVAREZ is an engineer, writer, photographer, and filmmaker. His work has screened throughout the United States, garnering prizes and gathering acclaim along the way. His recent short film "Mnemosyne Rising" premiered at the 2010 South By Southwest Film Festival.
