MFA Screenwriting Student
Deborah Valcin left the lush palm trees and crystal clear ocean waters of her home in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to graduate high school and the University of North Texas so she can write about the lush palm trees and crystal clear ocean waters of her home in Port-au-Prince.
Her script "Catharsis: A Journey Through Anger" was a quarterfinalist for the 2019 Screencraft Film Fund, and her pilot "Ghostflag" was a semifinalist for the 2021 Black Boy Writes Media Mentorship Program. Her Haitian short film, Le 27 Juillet, went on to premiere at the Arthouse Film Festival and the Denton Black Film Festival.
Between writing and her day job, she's been a PA, AD, 2nd AD, and has directed her own short projects.
