Laura Day

Laura Day

MFA Screenwriting Student

Laura was raised by an eccentric single mother in one of the most conservative counties in Texas. Having descended from a long line of women who survived impossible odds, Laura gravitates towards hour-long pilots chock-full of psychologically fractured characters learning to define success for themselves. Her television pilots and spec scripts have advanced at Austin Film Festival, WeScreenplay Contest, and Los Angeles International. Before coming back to Texas to pursue an MFA at UT Austin, Laura spent the better part of a decade in Chicagoland, where she worked as an Associate Producer and Assistant Director for Commercial and Independent Films while also working in high-end nightclubs. Captivated by the psychology of the clubs’ patrons and the women who serve them, Laura wrote her first script. She continues to find her best inspiration in those rare places where the most fringe folks and high society intersect.

Areas of Interest: Writing for Television, Drama, Horror, Dark Comedy.
