MA Student
Born in South Korea, Yenny grew up in the US and the UK. While attending NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, she interned under director Park Chan-wook and discovered her passion for working with Korean media products. After graduating in 2016 with a BFA in Dramatic Writing, she built her career in the Korean media industry for 8 years. Her most recent role was at CJ ENM of "Parasite" fame, where she worked in the Global Content Sales division and pioneered CJ ENM's entry into American new media platforms. She was also part of a group that launched Korea's fastest-growing streaming service, Coupang Play, in 2020.
Yenny's academic interests include the transnationality of media products and how they affect other cultures (in particular, the global rise of Korean media products and their impact on the Western world), the role of streaming in lowering cultural borders, and Asian representation in American popular culture. In her free time, Yenny works as a Korean-English translator and has provided English subtitles for Korean dramas and variety shows on global streaming giants.
