Dr. Sharon Strover leads international research collaborations in Portugal for new media areas
Professor Sharon Strover was at the Microsoft Lisboa offices last week to sponsor a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate with New European Media-Portugal, an organization of creative industries in Portugal. The aim of the group will be to engage in research, training and education, and development in new media areas. The New European Media group works on an international level with individual companies, various European nations, and the EU’s Horizon 2020 program, its major research blueprint. The Vice President of the country’s major scientific foundation spoke about the UT-Austin project, and the Minister of Development for the country, Miguel Poiqares Maduro, offered his congratulatory remarks at the signing. Professor Rosental Alves from UT-Austin was the keynote speaker for the event.
On February 6, Professor Strover will co-host an e-Health symposium at the New University Lisbon (NOVA) in which four UT faculty members/researchers and several Portuguese health researchers will present their current research. This initiative showcases international collaborative health projects involving new media communication tools, a priority research area for the Digital Media Program headed by Strover.
