Professional Links & Recent Works

Born in Wichita, Kansas and raised in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley, Amelia always gravitated to the magic of film and TV. From a young age, she would re-watch her favorite classic films like "The Wizard of Oz" and "Signing in the Rain", but also dived deep into her family’s Marvel Encyclopedia. As she grew up, she fell more in love with superhero media, including the Japanese tokusatsu known as “Super Sentai”, which was adapted in the well known American property “Power Rangers”.

She moved to Austin for her BA in Radio-Television-Film and fell in love with Media Studies, thanks to the amazing faculty here at UT. She is currently working full-time as a HR Assistant with the Moody College, while focusing on her MA in Media Studies.

Amelia takes an interest in both children’s media and Latino representation, and hopes to give a platform to a part of media history that often doesn’t get the spotlight.

While she is not in class, she is either reading up on UT Student Employment, reading comics, completing her daily crossword, watching No.1 Sentai Gozyuger, or cuddling with her two cats, Rosencrantz and Yogi.
