It’s Halloween, a perfect time to learn about and celebrate the much-loved genre of horror films.
“Horror moves us,” said Lalitha Gopalan, associate professor in the Department of Radio-Television-Film. “We don’t expect horror films to make us sad. We think of horror films as scaring us. It can tap into that space of loss and trauma in ways that no other genre can.”
We checked in with some of our Radio-Television-Film faculty and staff to learn about their favorite horror films. They also gave us their unique perspectives on the importance of their favorites.
