Tim League is co-founder of the Alamo Drafthouse, a chain of theaters which combines film nostalgia, special events, and food. He's also a creator of Drafthouse Films, a film distribution company and the director of Fantastic Fest a genre movie festival in Austin, Texas. League discusses the creation of the Drafthouse as well as his own thoughts on the media ecosystem.

Tim League Biography

Tim League graduated from Rice University in 1992 with degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Art/Art History.  After a two-year stint at Shell Oil, Tim left engineering to enter the theater business. In 1997, Tim and his wife Karrie founded the Alamo Drafthouse where Tim remains CEO today. League also co-founded Fantastic Fest, the largest genre film festival in the United States and launched Drafthouse Films, a distribution label committed to releasing provocative, visionary and artfully unusual films from around the world. The Alamo is expanding nationwide to Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Brooklyn, with many more locations on the horizon.
